New Hope Uganda’s Kasana Children’s Centre was established in the heart of Uganda ’s former “Luweero Triangle” war zone in 1986, by Jay and Vicki Dangers. Originally, its purpose was to care for orphans created during this internal political war. This area had been the hot spot of the war, and hundreds of thousands of innocent men, women, and children had lost their lives on and around New Hope’s current property.

After one and a half years of clearing and cultivating the land donated to the ministry by the Mukubira family, registering the new organization with the government, and gathering a small team of staff, the Dangers took on the first 10 children in March of 1988. Five street boys and a family of five--three boys and two girls. These kids were brought into a mud building that served as home for the staff and for the children, as well as the school, the church, the office, and the clinic.

From those very humble beginnings, the Lord has blessed the work at New Hope. Well over a thousand orphaned and abandoned children have received love and care from New Hope’s godly, committed staff members. There are hundreds of thousands of orphans that AIDS, death, and abandonment consistently create; NHU seeks to reach as many as possible. The leadership of NHU works diligently to love on these kids while teaching appropriate dependence on God and strong family and life skills that make healthy and skilled citizens.

The physical and spiritual needs of the fatherless in Uganda are enormous. Looking over the past we see God’s rich blessing! Looking into the future we see countless opportunities. But we need partners in the work of reaching even more children with the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the love of the Father. Would God have you become a member of the team?

With God’s enablement and teamwork, extraordinary things can happen!

Blessings,
Jay Dangers

I thank God for the privilege of serving these modern day orphans. We don’t use the term “orphan” here at NHU because that implies being without family. The kids that we bring in become family and we care for them as our own. God’s love for these children is absolutely indescribable and He calls us to pass that love to them. In view of His love, I plead with you to partner with us in prayer and financially to enable us to care for more of these fatherless children. Please, consider becoming a NHU team member.

Thank you, friend
